Appointment of Chair to Armagh Observatory and Planetarium Management Committee


Archbishop Richard Clarke is pleased to announce that John Briggs has been appointed as Chair of the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium Management Committee following an open recruitment competition.

John was Chief Executive of Armagh City and District Council from 2007 – 2015 and took early retirement as part of Local Government reorganisation.

John brings with him a wealth of Strategic Leadership and Governance experience and an understanding of the unique history and heritage of Armagh Observatory and Planetarium and the significance of its contribution to the reputation, heritage, tourism, education and economic growth of Armagh and the wider region.

John will formally take up post in January 2018.
